MATH LITERACY Identifying the major theme in a text (i.e. love, friendship, courage). Explaining major differences between books that tell stories and books that give information, drawing on a wide reading of a range of text types. (Non-fiction vs. fiction). Example: This book is non-fiction because it has _________ and a _______. Writing an opinion piece. The students will give their opinion on something, and explain why they feel that way.
Knowing and applying grade-level phonics and high frequency words. STUDENTS ARE STILL NEEDING A LOT OF PRACTICE IN WRITING THEIR WORD WALL WORDS, AND USING PHONICS SKILLS FOR DICTATION ON FRIDAY!!! Please practice writing the word wall words, and phonics words!!! Sound-Spellings: long u and long e with silent e (fuse, Pete); vowel sounds of ee; inflectional ending -ed
Practicing counting to 120, and representing, writing, and reading numbers up to 100. Solving two-step word problems, and problems with 3 addends. Understanding subtraction as an unknown-addend problem. For example, subtract 10 8 by finding the number that makes 10 when added to 8. Collecting, interpreting, and analyzing data (graphing) Understanding place value in the tens and one positions.

Habit 4 for November: Think win-win. I am a problem solver. I think of ways to make everyone happy.
