Principle, Properties and Characteristics

ARGONITE is an inert gas that extinguishes fire based on the principle of oxygen depletion. In a closed space almost all fires are extinguished in less than 6 seconds !hen the oxygen concentration falls belo! "#$. ARGONITE reduces the oxygen concentration to approximately "%.#$& an acceptable le'el for human exposure o'er short periods of time. ARGONITE extinguishes fire by physically remo'ing oxygen from the atmosphere. In occupied areas& people can breathe ARGONITE at extinguishing concentrations !ithout fear. There are no toxicological factors associated !ith the use of ARGONITE and ARGONITE !ill not decompose or produce any by(products !hen exposed to a flame from a fire condition. An ARGONITE discharge !ill not create a fogging effect ( therefore 'ision is not compromised or obscured. )ost ARGONITE systems are designed to extinguish fires !ith a minimum agent concentration of * $ !ithin one minute. +hen Argonite is released into an enclosed space& an inacti'e atmosphere is established in !hich the oxygen concentration !ill be decreased from a normal %"$ to "%(",$ by 'olume. At this concentration& fires !ill be effecti'ely extinguished. ARGONITE is an inert gas blend consisting of a # -# mixture of t!o gases found naturally in the atmosphere- Argon .Ar/ and Nitrogen .N%/. An ARGONITE discharge results in a gas mixture !ith a density similar to that of air& therefore0 1old times are greatly increased. 0 The need for room sealing is reduced. At room temperature it is a colorless& odorless gas. It is en'ironmentally neutral& ha'ing 2ero o2one depletion potential .O34/ and 2ero global !arming potential .G+4/. As a clean agent& ARGONITE offers these benefits0 5ero O2one 3epletion 4otential .O34/ 0 5ero Global +arming 4otential .G+4/ 0 4roduces no secondary combustion products 0No post(fire residues to clean up nor damage to protected e6uipment 0 Is electronically non(conducti'e 0 7afe for use in a !ide range of sensiti'e applications !here people are present
