February 3rd-7th Plans

In math this week we will continue with Time. If you are following along with us in our EnVision textbooks or online this is Topic 12. Students will need to be able to tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes. . One of the hardest elements of time is measuring elapsed time. When working with elapsed time students will also be asked to solve problems identifying two times and how much time has passed. They will also need to solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of time interval in minutes by representing the problem on a number line diagram. Common Core 3. MD.1 . If time allows we will begin with Geometry and Temperature. Can you believe your 3 rd grader will be practicing Geometry? Students will study two-dimensional shapes and their attributes (line, line segments, angles, polygons, triangles, and quadrilaterals). We will also take a look at temperature and reading a thermometer. Students should be able to identify temperature on a thermometer in degrees Celsius and Fahrenheit. Please remember that we review skills throughout the year in order to better retain information and prepare for our end of year assessment.

Multiplication Facts (1-10) Division Facts (1-10) Addition and Subtraction with Regrouping Regrouping across Zero Adding and Subtracting Money Place Value (standard, expanded, and written form)

Students are taking One Minute Multiplication Tests. Please practice your multiplication facts each night! If you need extra practice check out the LINKS page of the website, write the facts down, or study flash cards (available at Walmart or Dollar Tree).
