The gauge depends on the type of yarn you use. You could also use thread with a steel hook for smaller skulls. If you use a thinner yarn, you may want to use a different sized hook. bigger skull would call for a thicker yarn and a bi!!er hook, etc.

It came out to be about $ $/23 (from the top down, 23 across the eyes.

Instructions:

Sc across, ch $ turn 5c in two stitches, ch $ sk $ hdc in two stitches, ch $ sk $, dc in last three stitches, ch0 turn. Sc)to!, sc in ne6t stitch, $ sc in eye, ch ), $ sc in eye, sc in ne6t stitch, sc)to! in ffonal stitch and top of ch $. 4h 0 turn.
