TOBAGO Burns Up With Great Race
TOBAGO Burns Up With Great Race
During the early morning, some members of the huge Store Bay
crowd danced to the music from the DJ, while others pondered
with baited breath for the winner of the longest offshore
powerboat race in the world. With the staggered start system
continuing to be employed, race boats in smaller classes such as
“P” and “Sports 1” left Pier 1 from as early as 7:00 a.m. Fujitsu
Fury had an early lead in the “M” class at 8:00 a.m., as Mr. SOLO
was encountering some complications. However, the experienced
crew of Darin Marshall, Gino Fusco and Hayden Charles quickly
found their element and carved the North Coast swells with their
high powered engines until they roared into Tobago waters for a
record sixteenth victory, and completed the final lap to applause
and cheers from the exuberant crowd.
