Watercolor Pencil Practice!

! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Value Scale! Draw a set of 5 boxes, apply the watercolor pencil in each box so that it progressively gets darker from the rst box to the last box. Apply clean water over each box individually, making sure to stay inside the box.!

Lightest!

Darkest!

Graded Wash! In the box above, apply the watercolor pencil so that it progressively gets darker from the one side of the box to the other. Apply clean water over the box, making sure to stay in side the box. Start in the lightest

area and your way to the darkest area.! Blended Colors! In the box, apply 2 different colors of watercolor pencil, half with one color and half with the other color overlapping and blending them in the middle of the box. Apply clean water starting in the rst color overlapping brush strokes as you move toward the second color and the end of the box.!

Hard Edge!
In the box, apply 2 different colors of watercolor pencil and half with the other color not overlapping, but touching. Apply clean water over the rst color and LET IT DRY. Then paint over the next color there will be a sharp hard edge along the 2 colors.

Soft Edge!
In the box, apply 2 different colors of watercolor pencil and half with the other color not overlapping, but touching. Apply clean water over the rst color and while its still wet paint over the next color the 2 colors should bleed together slightly

Flat Wash!
In the box, apply the watercolor pencil so that it is an even value all over the box. Starting at the top, apply clean water over the box. Overlapping your brush strokes slightly helps to even out the wash.!

Graded Wash!
In the circle, apply the watercolor pencil so that it is a gradation of values creating the illusion of a sphere. Apply clean water over the circle, making sure to stay inside the circle. Start in the lightest area and work your way into the darkest area.!
