Batik industry is an industry that is synonymous with the people in Kelantan Darul Nairn. The word batik originates from the Indonesian language which means' clothing who have little dots'. The word 'tik' means 'point' that stems from ticking sound or 'tik-tik'. Some say that the word batik derived from Java, 'tritik' the process of producing batik. According to historical records, the batik in primitive forms known to have existed since 2,000 years ago in Persia and in Egypt. In Malaya, batik was introduced in the 15th century AD at the age of Annals rule in Malacca. In the 1770s a rainbow batik has introduced in the Malay Archipelago.

History of batik in Malaysia had been known in the 18th century when the 'Batik Minah Rainbow 'start in Terengganu batik industry. In 1911 bin Haji Che Su Haji Ishak embark on Batik enterprises at Lorong Gajah Mati, Kota Bahru, Kelantan. At that time only a batik technique using tie and die and known as' Batik Pelangi' while the white cloth imported from Thailand. Materials are made own dyes using dye fruit and bark.
