over the course of his or her life. This is an ideal that I hold personally and consider irrefutable. I, among others, see that there is a higher needa biological mandate, if you willto consider ones self wholly for the sake of understanding and betterment. Currently and more relevantly, as a late addition to this Leadership in Global Contexts class, I find myself given an opportunity to base my thoughts and ideas in this paper on my own knowledge and personal experience in absence of the readings and class discussions that I have had the misfortune of missing. However, as all pieces of writing must have some purpose, the theme of this paper will gravitate toward openness in leadership and coming to understand other perspectives as a person. As a leader, I always envisioned myself asserting my own views and ideas as the correct views and ideas that would lead a team or effort. I innately believed this to be the true meaning of leadershipintelligence and experience that surpasses those you lead. Even recently, my comfort in this definition has changed. Leadership, very basically, is not only an ability to lead, but an ability to synthesize thoughts and ideas to create a better overall outcome of collaboration. In almost any leadership situation, there will be a format consisting of leaders and team members. However, amidst all this newfound openness, I must underline my belief in strong leadership. In the end, a single leader is routinely responsible for a choice, a decision, and cant always rely on collaboration. Leadership requires an ability to look within oneself, communicate an idea, and find confidence in that responsibility. In conclusion, reflecting on ones self is a purposeful involvement of conscious and subconscioushidden and apparentaspects of thought to come to a realistic understanding of how to act and how to reach a better position to attain goals. Through personal reflection, Ive arrived at the supposition that leadership requires a balance of accepting others thoughts and contributions and asserting your own knowledge, experience, goals. Of course, nothing would be achieved without great individual leadership.
