FAULT CURRENT CALCULATION

SLD AND SPECIFICATIONS

G1 Ratings : 2 MVA 11 kV X = 0.169 pu

G2 Ratings : 2 MVA 11 kV X = 0.169 pu

T1 Ratings : 5 MVA 11000/415 V X = 0.08 pu

CURRENT FAULT CALCULATION

Pu base values : Sbase = 5 MVA
Vbase = 11 kV at HV side

Vbase = 415 V at LV side

The subtransient reactance of the two generators to the system base is

Therefore:
X1 = X2 = 0.169(11000 / 11000)2(5000000/2000000) = 0.4225 pu

The reactance of the transformer is already given on the system base, it will not change X = 0.08 pu The per-unit voltage on the low-voltage side of the transformer is Vpu = actual value / base value = 11000 / 11000 = 1 pu

THEVENIN EQUIVALENT CIRCUIT

Thevenin equivalent circuit: Vth = 1 pu Zth = j0.29125 pu Short circuit current (pu) Isc = Vth/Zth = 3.433476 pu Base current on the low voltage side: Ibase = 262.4396 A

Short circuit current (A): Isc = 901.0803 A
