    Dams

    Dams trap water along rivers. The water turns a turbine which makes electricity. The water is then released through a hole in the dam.

    Advantages
    Dams dont make very much pollution.

    Advantages
    doesn't cost much money after the dam has been built.

    Advantages
    Works well in places with lots of water.

    Advantages

    When dams are made it can improve landscape or leisure.

    Disadvantages
    The lake created by a dam takes up lots of space. Some people think they spoil the landscape. The lake can flood farmland.

    Disadvantages

    Costs a lot to build. For example, the Three Gorges Dam in China cost US$100 billion.

    . The water can be diverted to another place. There is a big problem when two countries share a river

    Disadvantages
    Dams can cause dirty water and pollution. In tropical places this can cause disease.
