EPITAPH

Donald was born in Highland Park, Michigan on February 12, 1946. He was the fifth of six children born to Alie and Eva Bradshaw. His parents and 3 siblings, Willie C., Jimmy and Lorraine, preceded him in death.

Donald was baptized at an early age and attended Thompson Avenue Baptist Church under the direction of Reverend C. L. Haney. He was known for singing with his siblings, and being a soloist with the church choir, a talent that followed him throughout the years. Later in his life, he was a founder of Greater Saint Matthews Baptist Church, but was currently a deacon at Doers of The Word Ministries under the direction of Reverend Otis Harvill and on his way to becoming an ordained minister.

At age 14, he left home following his sister to Cleveland, Ohio, where he became a manger at Sears, Roebuck. Soon after, he returned to Detroit where he worked for the Mid- American Trucking Company, owned his own Detroit City Cab No. 521, and delivered the Michigan Chronicle. As the years passed, his entrepreneurial spirit led him back to street vending, a skill he learned from his father as a child. Growing up, Donald learned to handcraft roses and carnations to sell for Mothers Day. He was an ice cream vendor, a salesman of "Little Joe" cleaning products, and a meat marketer. Donald was very successful at street vending and quickly earned the title throughout Detroit as "The Meat Man," but more recently as "The Peanut Man." Live Roses and Western hats were additional item he loved to sell along the river walk of The Detroit River.

Donald leaves to cherish his memory two brothers and a sister, John W. Bradshaw of Detroit, MI, Corbit A. Bradshaw (Georgia) of Highland Park, MI, and Vauneda Love of Independence, KY, six children, Lisa Bradshaw of College Park, GA (4 grandchildren and a soon-to-be great grandchild), Tracey Bradshaw of Atlanta, GA (one grandchild), Ronghenae Swain (Victor) of Carrollton, GA (2 grandchildren), Lamont Patton (Teresa) of Inkster, MI (5 grandchildren), April Hilliard (Brandon) of Indianapolis, IN (2 grandchildren) and Deven Bradshaw of Douglasville, GA (1 grandchild), and a beautiful host of family and friends.
