Participate in the class brainstorming session on ideas for transportation devices you can investigate. From the class list of ideas, select a transportation device to study. Develop a plan to investigate your device. Find out how the transportation device works. Answer the following questions about the device you selected: A. What does the device do? B. How fast does the device usually go? C. Who uses it? D. What materials are used to make it? E. What forces are involved in the operation of the device? F. What energy changes take place when you use it? Who invented this mode of transportation? How did people get around before this transportation device was invented? Design a way to display what you have learned about your device. You may want to make a poster display. If you have a computer, you may want to create an electronic display. Your teacher will help you decide which method is best. Organize an oral presentation to share what you have learned with the class. During the presentation, both you and your partner should explain how your device works and answer the questions in Steps 5 and 6 on this student sheet. Make a bibliography of resources used.
