Jason Weeks #3189 (623) 349-6448 or (623) 694-0287 In early January 2014, the Buckeye Police Department conducted an investigation into alleged criminal drug activity on the Hot 7 Smoke Shop, 712 East Monroe, Buckeye Arizona 85326. Information was received the store clerks were allegedly selling a drug known as Spice to adults and high school students. Spice is classified as a dangerous drug under Arizona Revised Statutes. On February 18, 2014, Detectives from the Buckeye Police Department executed a court-authorized search warrant on the Hot 7 Smoke Shop. A subsequent search of the business yielded forty-five (45) vials of suspected Spice packaged for sale. The cashier, Veronica Braga, a 32 year old Buckeye resident, was arrested for Possession of a Dangerous Drug for Sale, ARS 13-3407 (Class 4 Felony); and, Possession of a Dangerous Drug for Sale in a Drug Free School Zone, ARS 13-3411 (Class 4 Felony). The Hot 7 Smoke Shop is located less than 300 feet from the Buckeye Elementary School, and within two blocks of the Buckeye City Hall. The Buckeye Police Department and City officials continue to work together in making the downtown community a safer and drug-free area.
