Perea Hosts Water Bond Hearing in Fresno Today

FRESNO - Assemblymember Henry T. Perea (D-Fresno), in partnership with Chairman Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood) and members of the Assembly Committee on Water, Parks and Wildlife, including Assemblymembers Adam Gray, Jim Patterson and Mariko Yamada, will host an Informational Hearing at Fresno City College on the proposed 2014 Water Bond to engage the community and hear the local perspective. Assemblymember Richard Gordon will also be in attendance. California has been well served in the past by our water structure investments, but they are no longer meeting the water demands of our state, said Assemblymember Perea. This hearing is a great opportunity for our Central Valley community to make clear how vital water is to both our local economy and as the fruit basket of the world, to our nation. Water means jobs in my community, and we must make investments where storage, access to safe and clean drinking water, and Delta sustainability are the priorities. Local speakers at the hearing will include: Gary Serrato, General Manager, Fresno Irrigation District Veronica Garibay, Co-Founder & Co-Director, Leadership Counsel Joe Del Bosque, President, Del Bosque Farms, Inc. Mario Santoyo, Executive Director, California Water Coalition Jason Peltier, Chief Deputy General Manager, Westlands Water District Assemblymember Perea encourages the community to attend the hearing. There will be an opportunity for public comment. *******MEDIA AVAILABILITY****** WHAT: Informational Hearing on the 2014 Water Bond WHERE: Fresno City College Old Administration Building (OAB) Auditorium 1101 East University Ave Fresno, CA 93741 WHEN: Thursday, February 20, 2014 2 P.M. ### www.asmdc.org/perea https://www.facebook.com/AssemblymemberPerea Follow @AsmPerea on Twitter
