He shifted the attention of audiences onto those in poverty. Made the public understand desperation and how it had a role in everyones lives. Shining a light on the countless misfortunes that may surround us.

HIS LIFE

Born Feb 10th 1898 Died August 14th 1956 Occupation: Poet, Playwright, Theatre Director and Marxist. Key theatre practitioner of the 20 th century Author of 43 published poems inspired by folk-ballads Writer and directly of 54 different plays between 1928 - 1955

POLITICAL INFLUENCES

A true believer in Marxism. He would incorporate a lot of his political beliefs into his works. His works would blatantly condemn fascism, while endorse communism as an acceptable form of government. After fleeing to Soviet occupied East-Germany he became proponent of the communist regime.
