"High culture" is a term, now used in a number of different ways in academic discourse, whose most common meaning is the set of cultural products, mainly in the arts, held in the highest esteem by a culture. It is the culture of an upper class such as an aristocracy or a well educated people. The people that participate in high culture activities are well educated, high wage earner and in most cases millionaires. A person does not have to be a millionaire to go to a high culture function, but it is costly and most of the time by invitation only. (Article)
