SEW your own headband (1 HR)

1. Start by cutting out 2 rectangles and a 6 piece of 1/2 elastic:

11 x 3 17 x 5 2. Now sew the 11 x 3 rectangle into a tube with 1/2 seams. Sew right sides together. Close the bottom by sewing over it three times (forward/backward/forward). Use a knitting needle or a screw driver to flip the tube right side out. Now cut off the sewn end of the tube so it is open at both ends again. 3. Attach a safety pin to the end of the elastic and feed it pin first into the tube. Stop when the other end is flush with the end of the tube. Sew this down three times. 4. Pull the safety pin through to the other end. Remove the safety pin without losing the elastic. Now sew this end down three times. The tube should now have a scrunched up appearance because of the elastic inside of it. 5. Take your larger rectangle. Press up the long edges at 1/4. Use a ruler to help you press it consistently. Press again at 1/2 to conceal the raw edge. Now pin down your hems and use a guide foot to sew it perfectly straight, 1/8 from the edge of the inner fold. Make sure you have folded your edges away from the good side of the fabric, not towards it. 6. Lay the larger rectangle on your work table, good side up. Now lay the elastic piece on top of the larger piece. Wrap the ends around the elastic and sew down. Check to make sure your headband is fitting and sew up the other end of your elastic. Tada! Youve made yourself a new headband in under an hour!
