What is a verbal
Verbals are words that are created from verbs; however they can serve a different purpose Such as a noun, an adjective, or an adverb There are three kinds of verbals: gerunds, infinitives, and particples.
Gerund
Gerunds are noun forms of a verb and it always end in ing. However every word that end in ing is not a gerund. Ex: My best friend and I love swimming in the pool every day. Ex: Writing is my favorite activity in school.
Infinitive
Is a verb in its basic form that functions as a noun. The word to before the verb forms an infinitive. Ex: My best friend and I love to swim in the pool every day. Ex: To think that way can lead to disaster!
Participles
Participle is a word that act as a modifier in front of a noun. It can be an adjective, or adverb. Ex: The laughing girl was the only one we could hear. EX: All around the yard were the trees fallen branches.
