Cell Comparison

to a football stadium

BY RYAN FUENTES

Plasma Membrane

The plasma membrane is like the stadium gates because it controls what goes in and what goes out.

Nucleus, Chromosomes, DNA

DNA is in charge of the whole cell. This reminded me of the security guards because they are in charge of checking the people who go inside the stadium.

Ribosomes

The ribosomes make proteins for the cells just like the food venders make food for the people.

Cytoplasm

The cytoplasm is the liquid inside the cell, the cup/can would act like the cell wall and the cytoplasm would be the liquid inside.

Mitochondria

Mitochondria makes ATP which is energy for the cell. That is like the Gatorade or water for the football player.

Chloroplasts

Chloroplasts makes protein (food) for the plant cell. This is also like the venders who make the food for their customers.

Cell Wall

The cell wall is support for the nucleus. The walls of the football stadium are also support for the stadium to stand up.

Rough ER

Rough ER is the membrane system that transports through channels or tubes. This is like the corridors of a football stadium.

Smooth ER

Smooth ER has channels that transport its needs. This is like the buses that transport fans to the game.

Golgi

The Golgi is the packaging or shipping of membranes which is also known as the finisher. I think this is like the final kick in a football game to see who wins.

Vacuoles Vesicles

The Vacuoles Vesicles is like some type of storage area in a cell. A football players locker room is like a place where they can store their gear.

Large central vacuole

The large central vacuole helps stabilize the turgor pressure within the cell so that the plant wont dehydrate. The sprinklers in a football field helps the grass stay hydrated.

Lysosomes

Lysosomes break down enzymes and recycles them. If you throw your bottles in a recycling bin then they can be used again just like the lysosomes reuses the broken down enzymes.

Centrioles

Centrioles helps in the cells division. In a football field there are equally divided lines to determine the yards.

Microtubules

Microtubules support movement in the cell. The movement of the football when it is thrown in a spiral helps the ball travel faster and straighter.
