WORK EXPERIENCE

Southeast Community College, Lincoln, NE 2010-Present Career Coordinator (Western Region) for SENCAP (Southeast Nebraska Career Academy Partnership) As a Career Coordinator, I use my passion for guiding students to a career where they will be successful and happy. Part of that process includes guiding the creation of resumes and cover letters that will set the students apart from other job or scholarship applicants. Providing students with opportunities to observe and practice interviewing with professionals in their career interest area assists the students in confirming the choices they are making are the right choices for their adult life. I also see myself as a liaison between SCC and their instructors to the high schools and their students. Assisting counselors with the process of completing hard-copy registrations more efficient is a priority of mine. Throughout the school year, I meet with counselors and principals to trouble-shoot any issues and to listen to any suggestions they might have to make the career experience for the student more challenging and successful. My role in arranging field trips, assisting in setting up job shadows, attending and helping plan college fairs, attending and participating in convocations to promote the Academies, and facilitating the online portfolio is essential in making the Career Academies successful. I feel my greatest accomplishment as a Coordinator of the West Region is a 150% increase in student participation in the past four years.
