ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA General Requirements Suction Piping shall have a straight length of pipe at least 5 times the suction nozzle diameter immediately upstream of the nozzle. Note: The above requirement does not apply to horizontal self priming pumps and vertically suspended double casing pumps. In the event of there being insufficient space to accommodate the straight length of piping immediately upstream of the pump, a specially fabricated reducer is provided for direct connection to the pump suction nozzle. This reducer is eccentric with the flat uppermost and has a taper angle not exceeding 12 degrees. Reducers in suction piping shall be of the eccentric type with the flat uppermost and shall be located upstream of the straight pipe length immediately upstream of the suction nozzle of the pump. A check valve is installed on the discharge piping of each pump. Note: Check valve is located upstream of the discharge valve. The suction piping shall be designed to prevent the formation of gas or air pockets. Sufficient venting provisions shall be included. Suction & Discharge nozzles shall be flanged, (API 610 Para. 2.3.2.1). For steel casing, the facing of finished flanges up to and including 24 inches shall be raised face for flanged rating classes 150, 300 and 600 and shall be ring joint for classes 900 and higher. Note: for 26 inches and above, flanges shall be in accordance with Standard Drawings AD-036634, AD-036991 and AD-039973 for classes 150, 300 and 600 respectively.
