Q4: WHO WOULD BE THE AUDIENCE FOR YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT?

RESEARCH

Whilst doing my planning and research, I came across several media kits which gave me ideas on particular target audiences. I found different demographics for different types of magazines; that consisting of XXL magazine.
Because of this, it made me aware of race, social classes, ages and specific groups that read different genres of magazines.

VIBE

I came across VIBE magazines media kit, which informed me about who their audience were, their age, education, employment and race.

XXL

Here you are able to see XXLS media kit, which show the statistics of their audience.

WHAT THE MEDIA KITS TAUGHT ME

After browsing through several media kits, I have concluded that all media kits show me the statistics and figures of the different audience, each magazine is trying to target. By having an exact figure or statistic this implies that the magazine must be very reliable and professional. As the percentage is slightly high, this portrays that there is a clear common interest within that genre.
Even though I will be targeting my magazine to a UK audience, as it will be published in the UK, I will try and make the topics as universal as I can because the statistics show that African Americans were the highest and most popular readers, which is who I should and would be aiming for to read my magazine.
