Merced County Deputy Sheriffs Association Endorses Vern Warnke to Become Next Merced County Sheriff
Cite his dedication to law enforcement in Merced County as main reason for endorsement

Merced- Vern Warnke, 35 year veteran of the Merced County Sheriffs Department, today announced that the Merced County Deputy Sheriffs Association has endorsed his campaign to become Merced Countys Next Sheriff.

"We are the voices you hear when you pick up your phone for help, and we are the faces you see when the help arrives, said Association President Phillip Brooks. We have dedicated our lives to ensuring that you receive the public service that your hard-earned tax dollar deserves. No one knows county law enforcement better than we do, and no one is more qualified to decide who should lead us more than we are. We believe that Vern Warnke is the person to lead us." Continued Brooks, Vern's dedication and passion for the job made him well liked among the citizens he served, and his compassion and sense of fairness made him a favorite among the deputies he supervised. After retiring as a senior supervisor, Vern continued to show his passion for service by frequently volunteering his time for various charitable events throughout the county. As law enforcement professionals, that is the type of person we need to lead us, and that is the person we chose in endorsing Vern Warnke. Vern Warnke has spent his entire adult life as a resident of Merced County. A 35 year veteran of the Merced County Sheriffs Office, Vern has been honored as Merced County Officer of the Year, Explorer Advisor of the Year, Merced County Employee of the Year and California Teachers Gold Award, along with receiving a special award from Mothers Against Drunk Driving in honor of his efforts to curb drinking and driving. Vern has been married to his wife Kathy for 33 years. Together they have two daughters, Melissa and Jenny, and three grandsons, Nathan, Connor and Jace.
