Lectio Divina guide

Letting the Word study us, as opposed to us studying the Word. In lectio divina, the purpose is to sit still in the presence of God and His Word so that we can give space for the Spirit to speak to us and meet us where we are. Its a different form of Bible study and of experiencing Jesus through Scripture.

Four stages of Lectio Divina Lectio - Read First reading: slowly and deliberately, together Second reading: slower and with mental notes to phrases or words, together Third reading: read up to word or phrase and repeat several times to self, individually

Meditatio Meditate Reflect on the word or phrase. Being to wonder to God about what it might mean for you specifically. This is not prayer, it is meditating on the word or phrase. Share.

Oratio Pray Pray to God around the questions: What is the word that you have for me today? What do you want to tell me? What are you calling me to do today, as a result? Write down any thoughts or feelings that come to mind. Those may be answers from God.

Contemplatio Contemplate Rest. Be silent and enjoy the presence of the Holy Spirit. Be attentive to His care and love for you. Imagine God speaking words of affirmation and love and glory to you. Worship God in this. This is important since the call that God had for you might be challenging.
