One ethical dilemma I encountered pertained to confidentiality.

During my internship at DESCC I was working with a student who was a teen father. This individual also had a DHS worker due to past family trauma. He talked very openly about his son. However, he revealed to my supervisor and myself that he didnt want us to inform his DHS worker about his son. His reason was just that he didnt want to system involved at all with his child because he had such a tumultuous childhood from home to home. His son was almost two years old and the student told everyone about him and showed pictures to anyone who asked. This DHS worker was very involved as seemed to really care for the student. My supervisor and I discussed this predicament and ultimately decided we didnt need to tell his DHS worker about his son because from all the information we had the son was being well cared for. I agreed with my supervisors final to decision.
