Disproportionate Minority Contact (DMC) Initiative

In 2010, African American children were 2.5 times more represented in the foster care system than in the general population of Michigan.

Minority juveniles in Michigan (and nationwide) are more likely to enter the juvenile justice system than the youth population as a whole.

Trainings are free to residents and employees working in Saginaw County as part of a DMC reduction grant from the Michigan Committee of Juvenile Justice and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration childrens mental health grant.
