SCIENCE
We will begin our unit on Understanding Life Systems (Growth and Changes in Animals). Students will explore the following concepts: Animals have distinct characteristics Humans are animals There are similarities and differences among different kinds of animals Humans need to protect animals and the places where they live
SOCIAL STUDIES
We will begin our unit on Heritage and Identity (Changing Family and Community Traditions). Students will: Compare some significant traditions and celebrations among diverse groups and at different times, and identify some of the reasons for changes in these traditions/celebrations Investigate some of the past and present traditions and celebrations within their own family and the communities to which they belong Describe some of the major groups in their community, including different types of families, and some of the ways in which traditions and heritage are passed on by such groups
LANGUAGE
This month we will be focusing on regular ER verbs in the present tense and frequently used verbs such as faire and pouvoir . In addition, students will work on using proper subject verb agreement in their writing. Students have begun to revise and proofread their writing (e.g., correct errors in spelling, punctuation), and will continue to do so. After March Break, we will begin our poetry unit. Students will repeat and recite a variety of simple spoken texts (e.g., poems, comptines ) to develop vocabulary, pronunciation, and knowledge of language structures.
