Poetry Unit Mini-Portfolio and Presentation By the end of this unit, you will have written 3 different types

of poetry: 1. Catalog Poem (I am From) 2. Sonnet 3. Extended Metaphor For your mini-portfolio due Friday, February 28th in class: 1. Annotate each of your original poems by creating marginal notes that identify literary devices you used (figurative language, alliteration, assonance, repetition, consonance) 2. Re-write neatly or type a final version of each poem (Note: if you choose to handwrite, it must be on a clean sheet of white or construction paper. No lined paper). Each poem should have a title. Revise and improve your original work. Add or delete lines, phrases, words, etc. as you see fit. 3. Write a 1-page reflection that describes your creative process when writing poetry. How do you come up with a topic and begin writing? With these poems, what was your intended effect on the reader? How did your poems accomplish that? How do you know or feel when your poem is complete? 4. Include a title page with a creative title that describes your collection of work. You may add a visual to the title page if you would like. 5. Include a table of contents Put it all together: A) Title Page (optional visual) B) Table of Contents C) Final Version of each of your 3 poems, each followed by the original annotated copy D) Reflection Presentation You will read aloud 1 of your poems to the class on February 28th. Breakdown: 70 points total Final poems: Did you improve and revise your original poems? (30 points) Reflection: is it 1-page in length? Did you adequately address the questions? (15 points) Final Product: Did you include everything? (5 points) Is it neatly arranged? (5 points) Have you made a creative effort? (5 points) Presentation: Did you read aloud one of your original poems in front of the class? (5 points) Did you listen attentively during your peers presentations? (5 points)
