Here are some equations to solve. Starting easy and building up to harder ones. Each one is timed so stay focused

A formula usually starts with

x= or t= or h= etc.
That part is the subject.

To hire a boat costs 2 per hour with a 5 deposit. The formula could be written as

C = 2t + 5
Where C = cost and t = time hired In this one

C is the subject.

What if I dont want C to be the subject

C = 2t + 5
Maybe I want to be able to calculate how long I can hire the boat for with cost of 20 instead.

Then Id need

t to be the subject.

We can solve equations, and the method is very similar. So lets look at a comparison.

16 = 3x + 7 (-7) 9 = 3x (3) 3 = x

(-5)

C = 2t + 5
C 5 = 2t

(2) C 5 = t 2
