1B.3

To help you demonstrate your progress throughout the

learning aim, every few weeks you will be asked to set your
own personal SMART target.
(Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic Target)
You should work toward achieving 3 personal targets over the course of the
learning aim.

Throughout this Learning Aim you should undertake a series

of tasks that will help you prepare for the showcase
performance night. Some of these tasks will be completed during the rehearsal
sessions and some will need completing independently. You should bring your log
to rehearsal and preparation sessions every week and your Trainer will direct
you what to do when.

Working as a class produce a brainstorm of the thematic ideas you wish to

explore in the Showcase Performance. This will help you begin the process of
defining your ideas.

Now that you have selected the theme for the Showcase
what ideas do you have for how you can show the theme to
an audience through your acting and choice of texts? Explain your ideas in detail
below.

Complete as you go your Production schedule as to what you are working on that
week including any key dates and constructive feedback you have.

1.) Be aware of the following definitions:

Get in
The Get in is the process of getting in and setting the
spaces for final rehearsal it involves setting up technical
equipment, props, costumes, scenery and staging.
Technical Walk Through A Walk through runs from cue to cue so is therefore not
a full performance. This is so Tech Crew can annotate
their scripts for cues, plot lights and understand their
cues and timings. This is sometimes slow and frustrating
for Actors but YOU must concentrate!
Technical Run Through A full performance with Technical elements added. You
may be asked to stop or start action so that more
complex technical cues can be practiced.
Dress & Tech
A full run through with props, costume, and technical
cues. There may be an odd stop or start if a mistake is
made.
Full Dress A full run through as if it were on the night without any
stopping even if mistakes are made. YOU WILL BE
TIMED.
Tech Reset
The process of returning all props and costumes back to
the props tables and resetting scenery ready for another
full run. No one goes home until their groups have fully
reset to the standards expected of them at the end of
both days.

Finally here is your checklist of things you must ensure you bring to the Tech & Dress:
Item no:
1
2
3
4
5

Item
All Props
All Items of Costume
Any Relevant Items of Make up
3 x Copies of your Script for Technical Crew
Any items of scenery

Check

Reminder: Failure to bring what you need will slow the rehearsal down for every one! This will be
account for in yours and your groups Rehearsal marks.

Health & safety is of key importance in any work place but never more so in the
world of live performance due to the many hazards that are created backstage
during a live performance. Create the following checklist to help develop your
knowledge of Health & Safety issues you must consider for the, get-in, fit-up,
Tech & Dress and Final Performance night. You can find information to help you
with this at the following web page:
