General information (brief description, time frame, etc.) The American Red Cross was founded by Clara Barton in 1881. C. Thesis Statement Clara Barton was the one who started the Red Cross but when she left it was the common American who had to step up and help, heres how you can help. II. 1st Body Point (1st point of thesis) Clara Barton was born December 25, 1821. She was a teacher before she becamea nurse for the army. A. Supporting Paragraph(paragraph 2) While she was a nurse during the Civil War she did anything for the soldiers, she would food, ammo, water, any supplies they needed. B. Supporting Paragraph(paragraph 3) In the year 1865 she worked for the war department and helped reunite soldiers with their families. III. 2nd Body Point (2nd point of thesis) The Red Cross is one of the most premier humanitarian groups in the world. A. Supporting Paragraph(paragraph 4) They are dedicated to helping people all over the America and the world. B. Supporting Paragraph(paragraph 5) The Red Cross received its first Congressional charter in 1900 and 1905, that also happens to be the same year Barton retired.
