This document provides an overview of research objectives and a literature review on ramjet combustor modeling, boron and carbon particle combustion, and coal combustion. It then describes characterization of the fuel exhaust including thermochemistry calculations, particle collection testing from the propellant surface and gas generator exhaust, and characterization of the combustor exit exhaust. Finally, it discusses ramjet verification tests conducted through the SSST program including test data collection and data reduction procedures for thermochemistry, air mass flow measurement, flow areas, nozzle discharge coefficients, and pressure-based combustion efficiency.
