The club is open to everyone including new members. A library card is all you need to get the book for the next meeting. From Lisa Musgrove,

Manager

What the Friends have been up to lately.

The Sonoma Valley Friends are constantly in action. There are numerous unsung heroes who volunteer in many ways, from shelving books, sorting the donated books each week, serving on the Board and other Committees, etc. The book sales team led by Carol Brown is a well-oiled machine which is reflected in the success of the Sonoma Valley Friends. A recent addition to the Library and funded by the Friends is the handsome Power Wall where new books are displayed. This is to your right as you enter. See Lisas column on how popular this is and the upcoming progams at the Library, with financial support of the Friends. You can also see great photos and the timeline on the new Facebook page. www.facebook.com/SonomaValleyLibrary The Legacy Committee, chaired by Larry Leonard, continues to meet regularly to set in motion a plan for the long-term sustainability of our Library, and supporting Neighborhood Libraries. If you want to become involved, contact Larry at: larrysleonard@comcast.net

Mid-October marked the one-year anniversary of my tenure as manager of the Sonoma Valley Library. It has been a great year, getting to know the community, working with the staff and implementing a few new ideas. One recent popular addition is the Power Wall. This was funded by the Friends and allows easy browsing of new fiction and non-fiction books. It also is home to the Recommended Reading display. Library staff and volunteers submit books for Recommended Reads, from classics to off-beat sleepers. The books are flying off the shelves! Your library has also been increasing the number of programs. With the financial support of the Friends a full-slate of programs is on tap! Mark your calendars with the following fun events: Saturday November 16, 2:00 pm: Greenhouse: Celtic Fusion musical group will perform in the main library while the book sale is on in the Forum room. Be ready for a rowdy hour. Saturday December 14, 2:00 pm: Dusty Rhodes and Her Handsome Cowboys. Friday December 27, 2:00 pm: Teen Program: Bleach Effect T-Shirt Making. Bring a new, washed, dark colored t-shirt. Saturday December 21, 10:00-2:00 pm: Museum on the Go! Activities to inspire childrens creativity and stimulate curiosity to discover the world through playful exploration of the arts and sciences. Saturday January 11, 11:00 am: Cachito de Flamenco.

THANK YOU MUCHAS GRACIAS
