UAs Plank Center for Leadership in PR Set to Host Video Competition TUSCALOOSA, Ala. The Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations will honor the late public relations legend Betsy Plank by hosting a national celebration, #BetsyDay, and video competition in honor of her 90th birthday, April 3, 2014. Plank, commonly referred to as the first lady of public relations, was a pioneer for public relations education for students and was the first female PRSA President in 1973. Her legacy lives on through The Plank Centers research and work in advancing the profession. Betsy Plank Day will involve a national social media campaign, video competition and a #BetsyDay Panel hosted by The Plank Center. Students, professionals, and educators are invited to interact online from March 3, 2014 to April 3, 2014. The video contest is open to all PRSSA chapters and PR and communications organizations to showcase their leadership skills with the prompt How Do You Lead like Betsy Plank? The contest opens March 3, 2014. All video entries must be less than one minute in length and submitted to plankcenter@gmail.com by 12 p.m. on #BetsyDay, April 3, 2014. Entries will be posted on The Plank Centers Facebook page as they are submitted. The ten videos with the most likes will be judged later that day. The winning participants will be awarded a Skype session with one of The Plank Centers board members. Betsy Plank Day will involve a national social media campaign, video competition and a #BetsyDay Panel hosted by The Plank Center. March 3, 2014 to April 3, 2014. Use #AskBetsyPlank to ask any industry related questions from March 17 until April 3 via Twitter for The Plank Center Board Members to answer. The top three questions will be answered by the #BetsyDay Board Panel on April 3, 2014 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. All are invited to attend via live stream to hear Betsy stories, watch the winning video submission and the hear top #AskBetsyPlank questions answered. The Plank Center and Capstone Agency will publicize the event by targeting communications classes, organizations and PRSSA chapters to raise awareness of Betsy Plank, #BetsyDay and generate interaction for the event.
