    STRIKE TO SAVE OUR NHS


    55,000 people took part in the TUC demo at the Tory party conference in Manchester last year. It was a spirited and an impressive show of force. You could sense the class anger at the government. The Tories have cut the equivalent of 3,859 full-time nurses, midwives and health visitors in England alone since they got into office. Last year, the High Court quashed the governments decision to slash Maternity and A&E services at Lewisham Hospital after popular campaigning against the plan. The victory at Lewisham Hospital shows that we can win. Local opposition was given as one of the reasons for the ruling. Jeremy Hunt is attaching a new clause to a government bill on social care a clause which gives him the powers the courts said he did not have. We call on trade union leaders to coordinate strikes to drive out the Tories.
