Beginning
Opening Statement We always have so much fun playing games together so today we are going to try a new kind of guessing game. Everyone will sit in a circle on the carpet, a few friends will have a small key in their hands, these friends will pass the key behind their backs, and the friend who is in the middle tries to guess who has the key after the music stops.

Middle
What will children do Earlier Try to guess who has the key all at once Middle Try to hold onto the key instead of passing it Not pass the key discretely Later Try to pretend they have the key when they dont

Strategies: How will you scaffold their learning? Have more than one key so multiple students can guess

Strategies: Have the key be small enough for easy passing around the circle

Strategies: Have the seeker close their eyes while friends are passing the key to make it more challenging

End
transition to next part of routine The key is going around one more time and then we will be lining up to go outside.

Follow-up Ideas

Break the group into two smaller groups of younger learners and older learners to reduce frustration, If the game is getting too easy have directional arrow signs that the group has to follow on which Ways they have to pass the key
