2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?

In our opening sequence there are only really two groups of people that are present, there is a female who is middle aged and there is also a teenager who is male. They are both represented in very different ways throughout the clip. You can hear the voice of a teenage female but you do not see her present in the clip for a long period of time you only have a glance of her, this character is played by Phoebe Davies. The middle aged woman is played by Denise Hillier and she is very stereotypical for the age and gender that she is. In the media teenagers are represented to be very negative and very bad for the society, this in some aspect is connoted in the opening sequence however it is taken to the extreme by the role of the teenage boy, Joe Panton, the hitman. However it is unconventional for there to be a crazed hit man at such a young age. The middle aged women is portrayed to be very vulnerable and this is shown in the clip, she screams and is unsure what to do when the teenager, who is generally more powerful than her demands her to tell him the information. We have portrayed the teenager, Joe Panton, in a very unconventional way by his clothing, he is wearing the clothes of someone who would be a lot older than him, he looks rather smart whereas teenagers In the public eye are shown to be hood rats and dress in tracksuits and not look respectful. The middle aged lady is at work so is wearing work uniform and this is conventional of the elder ages that they work and earn the money. We chose to represent the teenage boy in an unconventional way as it ensured that the genre, thriller, was in place and that the audience understood that he was the main character the psycho. But we didnt make anyone else unconventional to make the unconventional character stand out from the rest and look really out of the ordinary.
