    FOOD PRODUCTION
    The

    practice of growing plants is called agriculture. The rearing of animals is called animal husbandry
    Crops are of two types-Kharif crops and Rabi crops

    GROWING A CROP
    Growing of crop involves following steps Preparing the soil The first step is preparation of soil.It involves ploughing leveling and manuring Sowing seeds The next step is sowing seeds.Only clean,healthy and disease free seeds are selected. Improving soil fertility Many methods are adopted to increase the fertility of soil like fallow field,crop rotation etc.

    GROWING A CROP
    Irrigation The process of providing water to crops is called irrigation. Crop protection Protecting the crops against diseases,pests,rodents etc. Harvesting The process of cutting and gathering crops is called harvesting. Storage Storage means storing the food grains in metal or earthen pots,gunny bags,grain silos etc.

    ANIMAL PRODUCTS
    Animals give us milk,meat and eggs.Animal products are an excellent source of protein.Egg white contains the protein albumen.Animal proteins are superior to plant proteins.
