U.S. Olympic Skier Erik Fisher Announced As Second CommCon Guest BOISE, Idaho U.S. Olympic downhill skier Erik Fisher has been announced as the second guest for the Social in Sochi keynote event at CommCon 2014, Thursday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Special Events Center (SpEC) in the Boise State Student Union Building (SUB). The keynote event will feature Olympians with Idaho ties who participated in the 2014 Winter games in Sochi to discuss the role social media played in their journey. "I'm super stoked to come join on for CommCon, said Fisher. If there is one thing I have learned in my career it is that being able to communicate and connect with people is everything!" Fisher, a U.S. Ski Team member and two-time Olympian from Middleton, Idaho, began his skiing career at age three with the Bogus Basin Ski Program. Fisher made it out to Sochi for the Winter Olympics, but was edged out for the final spot on the mens downhill team after a final training session by Steven Nyman. Eriks a tremendous addition for our event, said John Garretson, event director for CommCon 2014. Flyin Fish is not only a superb skier and athlete, but his journey to where he is today is absolutely remarkable. Fisher joins U.S. Olympic bobsledder Nick Cunningham for the Social in Sochi keynote event which will follow CommCon 2014 in SUB Jordan Ballroom BD from 4 9 p.m. Information about tickets and additional panelists will be made public in the near future. ### CommCon 2014 is a student-produced communication convention hosted by the Department of Communication at Boise State University. It provides an opportunity for organizations, professionals, educators, students, and the Boise community to celebrate the field of communication, explore the industry, and bridge the gap between students and professionals.
