    New tobacco regulation in Indonesia will be Ineffective..


    Anti-tobacco organizations have expressed concern that the tobacco control regulation will do little to wean the country off its cigarette addiction. Many anti-tobacco campaigners also claim that provisions in the new regulation clearly favor cigarette makers. Because the new regulations on tobacco control by antitobacco activists supporting the cigarette maker. In one article was uploaded by the state secretariat said that cigarette manufacturers were given a deadline of 18 months to comply with the obligation to use 40 percent of cigarette packaging to text and pictorial warnings about the dangers of smoking. And other controversial terms are terms as quoted by the regulation is "light", "mild", "Low Tar", "Slim", "Special" and "Premium", which has been widely used by cigarette makers in many popular brands they were like "Star Mild", "A-Mild", "LA Light" and "Wismilak Slim". By anti-tobacco activists six months is enough for the industry to comply with new regulations. While the new rules according to the Indonesian Tobacco Farmers Association (APTI) and the Indonesian Cigarette Producers Association (Gappri) will hurt small and medium-sized enterprises as well as cigarette tobacco farmers because of the obligation to provide a picture message means additional costs for small businesses. The collapse of companies small and medium sized will only benefit the big cigarette makers and this will lead to a greater flow of imported cigarettes. So the government should be able to accommodate the demands of all parties not only from tobacco control advocates, but also those who oppose it. According to the new regulations the health minister not to suppress tobacco farmers and workers but to protect the public. Thank you
