    Abstrak : Amoxicillin is a broad spectrum antibiotic semi-synthetic drug from penicillin group. This research was proposed to compare the generic and non-generic brands at drug stores especially for 500 mg amoxicillin. This research using thin layer chromatography and the test run by using pharmacopeias for the standard. The test used solvent form of mixture from ethanol and acetic acid (9:1). The experiment was held to 8 brands of tablet which contain 4 brands of generic tablets and 4 brands of non generic tablet. The test resulted; there is a difference in every factory product, even among the non-generic brands. The researcher aware that because of the lacks of the sensitivity of this test, researcher using help from other experiment to help make the conclusion. The last conclusion was there is indeed a difference inside the drugs of every factory product, but if using a better test the difference still at the limit of pharmacopeias, so this resulted the generic brands are having same quality as the non-generic brands ones.
