In 1857, women were working in textile factories; they worked for long hours and they were paid low wages. These bad working conditions led those women to protest against their employers and ask for their rights to work under appropriate conditions. The same year, the police suppressed and dispersed them. Two years later, these women set up their labor union to protect themselves and gain their rights. These protests took place on March 1957, and from that time on, 8 March was established as an International Womens Day. Techniques
