Lesson title: Abracadabra

Objective(s): Warm Up The goal of the warm-up is to prepare the students so that they can be successful at the concepts being taught in rehearsal. The focus today is on rhythm since we are at the beginning stage of this piece. By the end of the warm-up they will be able to play with better intonation, blend, and matching articulation. Rehearsal The students will be able to execute the rhythmic intensity and exposed lines with confidence. Along with rhythmic accuracy, the students will be able to play with cohesive articulation and stylistic nuance. Body: Warm Up Start with PN warm-ups (in the key of B flat) Play numbers 1,2,4,5, and 6 listening and watching for articulation, attacks, balance, and technique on the instrument itself (be mobile) Articulation matching exercise Tune Rehearsal The main focus of today is to really pick apart the beginning to mm. 28 Rehearse mm.1-28 listening for rhythmic accuracy Make sure that the eighth notes dont get compressed (Euphoniums) Listen and begin work on accents as well Dynamic contrast

Objective(s): Warm-up After the warm-up, the students will be able to play with more confidence in the 6/8 meter. They will also be able to play with confidence in balance, blend, and intonation. Rehearsal After rehearsing mm. 1-40, the students will be able to play more confident (rhythmically) in the 6/8 meter and play with correct articulation and dynamic contrast Body: Warm-up Start with PN warm-ups (in the key of B flat)

Everyone hiss number 1 again add a tie to number 1 and have them hiss with the tie Have them play number 1 with and without the tie (what does the tongue need to do to make with tie happen?) have them play number 2 and 3 as well Rehearse mm. 1-40, listening for rhythmic accuracy in ties. Listen as well for correct articulations and beautiful sounds. Evaluation: Listen and ask questions based on what you are hearing Thumbs up, Thumbs middle, Thumbs down Closure: By the end of my teaching session, the students will be able to to play more confident (rhythmically) in the 6/8 meter and play with correct articulation and dynamic contrast.
