Nominees Name Ashley Holthaus Nominees Email aholtha@bgsu.edu 1.) How has the nominee demonstrated the value of scholastics while still remaining involved on campus? (500 words maximum) Ashley is one of my most involved RAs, yet her GPA is one of the highest on staff. This past Fall, Ashley was one of the Co-Chairs for Colleges Against Cancers Relay for Life, which raised around $20,000. Additionally, she is deeply involved in PLA and recently joined Omicron Delta Kappa, a leadership honorary, which recognizes students for being phenomenal leaders on campus. Additionally, Ashley is a leader on our RA staff, both stepping up for additional responsibilities and building great community on her floor. Ashley manages to balance all of these things while still being, first and foremost, an incredible student. Not only has she maintained a nearly perfect GPA, she speaks of her classes with excitement and vigor, and is a role model for residents and her friends about balancing academics with extracurricular involvement. 2.) How does nominee have an evident plan for the future and the career he or she is pursuing? (500 words maximum) Ashley consistently plans for the future. Even though she is only a junior, she has dedicated plans to pursue graduate school after she is done at BG, and speaks passionately about her major in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Additionally, Ashley does a great job of considering how her current extracurricular activities contribute to her professional development as well. For example, in recognizing that senior year is rigorous in her major, she is transitioning from the live-in RA position to the Student Desk Manager position within McDonald Hall, which allows for more regular hours and an increase in work-life balance. She also expressed interest in the SDM position because she wanted to increase her administrative and organizational skills through the position as well. In short, Ashley is purposeful in decisions and actions that constantly contribute to her future. 3.) Please give an overall statement about the nominee that could best describe why he/she is deserving of the award. (500 words maximum)

I have had the privilege of working with several wonderful students while at Bowling Green State University. Many are bright, caring, and dedicated. However, there is something special and unique about Ashley. Ashley embodies being a well-rounded student scholarly in action, committed to her campus activities, and incredibly emotionally responsible in her leadership of others. She consistently reflects on her decisions and interactions to determine how she can be a better student, leader, and friend. Her commitment to her academics, activities, and relationships is unparalleled. If you have any further questions regarding Ashleys candidacy, please dont hesitate to contact me.
