Professional Development PlanMaking Students Makers by Kaamiya Burroughs Problem or Need: I conducted a survey to identify instructional technology needs

among elementary school teachers. I found that most teachers felt comfortable using technology in the classroom, but were not well-versed in a variety of technology tools that could be used for instructional purposes to enhance the curriculum. Goals: The goal is for all teachers to receive best practices through technology use to improve the quality of classroom instruction. Teachers will: -grow professionally, -be introduced to the practical applications of research based strategies, and -learn how to implement new technology and teaching strategies aligned with Common Core Standards for Georgia. Instructional Objectives: The objectives for this lesson are based on applying principles to technology rich activities that teachers introduce to students. a. Develop a deeper understanding of how to utilize web 2.0 tools for student use. i. animoto: Understand and know how to use animoto to create engaging videos. ii. citelighter: Understand and know how to use citelighter to produce content based research papers. iii. popplet: Understand and know how to use popplet to create visual mind maps. Evaluation: Teachers will assess their understanding and knowledge of the workshop by completing a post survey provided by the session leader. Audience: This workshop is designed for an unrestricted number of teachers who are comfortable and have experience using computers or any other electronic devices. Technology Needs: Computer, Promethean Board or projector for facilitation, internet access, classroom or time in the computer lab, Length: One Hour
