Benefits of LED Lighting

What are LED Lights?

LED lights are single or a bunch of small minute glass tubes that emit light in opne direction. Unlike Fluorescent or incandescent lights, they do not have a filament or noble gases in them.

Benefits of these Lights

Long Life Energy Efficiency Low Voltage Safety Environment Friendly

Long Life
The average life span of an LED Light is about 80,000 hours. This is about 8 to 10 times more than the ordinary lights. Thus, installing LED lights will help us save in a lot of maintenance cost.

Energy Efficient
The ordinary bulbs use only 10% of the energy to produce light. The rest 80% gets converted into heat. Whereas, the LED lights convert 85% of the energy into light and just 15% gets converted into heat. This shows that LED lights are much cooler than the ordinary bulbs. It also helps in saving expenditure as it saves on the need for air conditioners to keep the place cool.

Low Voltage
LED Lights work well even in low voltage conditions. This makes them suitable to be used in outdoor installations such as far off villages where a little bit of solar energy would also help them work well.

Safety
As seen in the earlier slides LED lights emit low amounts of heat. This keeps them cool and can be easily held without getting burnt. There is no possibility of a fatal shock as these lights consume low voltage power.

Environment Friendly
Unlike fluorescent lights that use mercury, LED lights are made up of non toxic materials that are environment friendly. This material is usually 100% recyclable.

Summary
LED Lights have proved to be beneficial in many ways. They consume less power and are energy efficient. The longer life span makes them more affordable to be used. Most importantly, they do not have any bad effects on the environment.
