... Tell me who needs an external HD drive when google drive is around. A harddisk preinstalled in my pc plus the online file storage popularly known as Goodgle Drive are more than enough for me. The trick is simple. I partition the harddisk into two. The first part is for windows installation and program files. The second partition is for data files. needed applications. Data on drive D and online are safe. No worries. So do I need an extra external drive? 1) Google Drive free storage capacity is only 15 G. I never feel like spending a monthly fee for the extra capacity. I feel it is not worth it. 2) A continuation of reason number one. I need an extra storage for large files. Important and the not so important files. Movies and musics are not not so important but it is for recreational purposes. 3) C and D partitioning of a single harddrive is not as wise as I think. If C fails physically, then the D is also done for. 4) Getting files from online storage takes time and it may not be cooperative in dire situations. Its a Western Digital My Passport 1T. I chose it cause it is the brand that never fail me yet for both laptop and desktop use. Should I mention the brand name that always breaks on me?

What more important is drive stability in the long run. It comes with a software which I think works like a Google Drive and works only on WD devices. I think supporting others make sense.
