howtobooks (2011.) This book does that it says on the tin - Useful for the middle ability student to write their statement in seven easy tips. Includes interview question and faqs. Has an informative glossary at the back. Stannadrd How to write a winning UCAS personal statement. Totman (2010) Very detailed and appropriate for the more able student. Really useful section in part two on academic profiles, and the dos and donts for each subject statement this section was co-written by university admission tutors. The subject specific recommended reading and websites is also very helpful. Senior, M and Mannix P Writing an effective personal statement a step by step guide Senior Press (2005) A very thorough examination of how to write an outstanding personal statement; and then make it even better. Could overwhelm some students. Excellent subject specific information on how to write that winning subject statement. Telfe, P. How to write a UCAS personal statement. Iris books. 2005 Very good for the middle to low ability as its very well laid out, simple to read with not too much text. Some excellent examples highlighted with lots of excellent top tips. The final section has many examples and advice on subject specific personal statements.
