Reference for Jillian Engele

As the University of Regina Faculty Advisor for Jillian Engele during her internship program, from September - December, 2013, I am pleased to provide a reference letter on her behalf. Jillians internship was with grade 5 students at Balgonie Elementary School in the Prairie Valley School Division. During my observations and in communication with her cooperative teachers, Sarah Slywka and Gerri Paterson, Jillian demonstrated effective teaching practices; effective routines and procedures; very good knowledge of the curriculum and assessment strategies; and had a very good rapport with her students. She willingly and enthusiastically embraced her grade 5 student environment and was always well-prepared and well-organized to meet the needs of all her students. Jillians organizational, planning and record-keeping skills were exceptional. She is also very technically-literate. Jillian was committed to learning and was always reflective of her own teaching strategies in order to ensure the success of each student. She often used a variety of teaching strategies that promoted an active, engaging learning approach. She was also willing to assume other responsibilities at the school by helping with outside and lunch supervision, as well as assisting with intramural activities. Jillian had a very good relationship with her cooperative teachers, other staff members and parents. Her cooperative teachers communicated to me that Jillian would be an an asset to any school. I strongly agree. I am very happy to recommend her for a teaching position. I would definitely want her as a teacher for my own children.
