Materials: Box of cake mix Measuring Cup Eggs Butter Curriculum Content: Cognitive Filling & Emptying Beginning: In my chefs hat and apron, with the children sitting in a circle I will lead them in singing Happy Birthday, and then announce that we will be baking a cake! Middle: Have children assist in measuring, mixing and pouring of cake mix and ingredients. Extensions: Easier premixing, pre-measuring, dumping ingredients. Advanced Scooping and measuring End: Cake goes in oven, clean up song to clean up material and wash hands. Follow-up Ideas: Wash dishes and return them to kitchen area.
